Hi,

I upload a lot of very large files, and it would be great if Enclose would wait to send the email announcing the link until it had finished uploading the file. Recipients complaining that the link doesn't work isn't so great.

Sorry, I didn't realize that the behavior was already there. I assumed it wasn't and didn't hit "Send" until the "Upload Complete" chime sounded.

What is great is Enclose. It saves me from the endless client education calls and emails regarding FTP usage. I'm buying it today.

I read the "Many user interface issues and ideas" post by Marc and Paul and agree with everything Marc said. This is a great product and it deserves a great interface. Have you thought of farming it out to someone else? Whoever designs for Panic.com is a genius. And take a look at MarsEdit http://www.red-sweater.com/marsedit/and Schoolhouse http://www.loganscollins.com/schoolhouse/ for Mac Mail-esque designs.

Cheers,

/andrew

Andrew - thanks for trying Enclose, and your comments and suggestions.

Actually, Enclose does wait until the file has uploaded successfully before sending. You can click send and close the edit window, but the email remains in the Drafts folder until the file is done, at which point the email is sent and you hear the email send sound.

If this is not what you are seeing, and if you are finding broken links after the email is sent, perhaps you've uncovered a bug or there is some other problem. If you are still having this issue, please let me know (you can use the Contact link above to reach me directly).

As to user interface, although I've worked hard on this and consulted with several people on the design, perhaps there are better ways to go.  Marc's comments were on a beta version back in December, and some of his suggestions were incorporated in the 1.0 release. Feel free to comment on particular things you'd like changed-- for example, the email edit pane, or edit/files tabs, etc.

I'll throw up a couple of ideas in a few days when I have a break from this interminable work.
