ENCLOSE has .zipped some single image files, even though I didn't want them .zipped. I do not have the ALWAYS .ZIP box checked so I'm not sure where else to look for the solution.

Also, after an image is FTPd and the email sent, how can I get the image OFF the EDIT page? I've tried dragging it off and looked for a NEW UPLOAD menu choice as a possible solution to getting a blank, image-free screen.

To prevent auto-zip, make sure the file has a file extension (it doesn't matter if it's hidden). Also, Enclose zips if the file includes a resource fork. This may be the case in your image files, where the resource fork contains a thumbnail or other info. This feature can be useful, but I can see why you wouldn't want it - it would be better to ignore the resource fork in this case.

As a workaround, you could use a utility to strip the resource fork before dragging to Enclose, such as GrimRipperCM (contextual menu, freeware).

As to removing the image from the last file sent, it's true it never goes away. You could switch to the Sent or Files view using the toolbar (you can still drag new files to the lower window area). Or, close the main window, and drag the next file to Enclose's icon in the Dock (you can also reopen the main window using the File menu). If you just don't want the moving URL, in Preferences > General uncheck Animate URL.  If none of these are satisfactory, contact me using the contact button and I'll see about getting a pref for this in a future version.

Paul -

Thanks for your reply. Would it be possible to update ENCLOSE so that it ignores the RESOURCE FORK info and just sends the file? I don't want to involve any other applications that would alter the image files I send to customers, increasing the chance they might encounter problems opening the files. My temporary workaround involves one of two steps: sending a second version of the file from a different drive that has not had the RESOURCE FORK added or including a link to the free program STUFFIT EXPANDER for the customer to use to unzip the now zipped RESOURCE FORK file. (I'm sure SMITH MICRO appreciates the links to their site but that means my customers have to install another application to get the .JPG file with the RESOURCE FORK if I don't send the second version of the .JPG file.)

Ok, I have put that on my to-do list for the next update of Enclose.

To unzip, the vast majority of computer users don't have to install anything. Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) and later have built-in unzip (I figure that's about 95% of Mac users). Windows ME, XP, and Vista all include unzip, which is 94% of Windows users per http://www.thecounter.com/.
